Liberty Centre achieves
LEED-EB Silver certification
Ashforth Pacific, Inc. and Liberty Northwest
team up for sustainable management practices award.
Ashforth
Pacific, Inc. and our partner Liberty Northwest have
combined a unique blend of energy savings and operating expertise
that has resulted in the United States Green Building Council
(USGBC) awarding LEED-EB Silver certification to their Liberty
Centre building.
“This certification is a reflection of how we approach
the day-to-day management of all our properties,” says
Hank Ashforth, Chairman of Ashforth Pacific. “Since
1999, our goal has been to provide the best service with
the most efficient use of resources with little or no impact
on the environment. We would like to thank Liberty Northwest
for their commitment to making this process work at Liberty
Centre.”
Liberty
Centre is a 17 story Class A office tower situated in the
heart of Portland’s Lloyd District.
Located at 650 NE Holladay Street and with over 277,000
square feet of office space it is the preeminent office
building in the District. Featuring light rail and such
amenities as a conference facility and outdoor plaza area,
it also houses the headquarters of Liberty Northwest Insurance.
“Liberty Northwest’s commitment to environmental
responsibility is a reflection of how our employees work
hard to deliver the highest quality service to our policyholders
and agents every day,” according to Julie Burnett,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Northwest.
“The Ashforth Pacific team deserves to be commended
for their work towards certification,” says Elaine
Aye, principal at Green Building Services, Inc. “LEED-EB
certification allows building owners to document many of
their good practices already in place, and Liberty Centre
is a prime example of this best practice.”
An
award ceremony was held at Liberty Centre on October
16th at 11:45am to recognize and promote this achievement.
Speakers included the Honorable Earl Blumenauer;
Past President of USGBC, Christine Ervin; and from Ashforth
Pacific Inc., Chairman Hank Ashforth and CEO Scott Langley. |

For
The Earth
Ashforth Pacific, Inc. wants to remind everyone of our strong
commitment to encouraging recycling. Within our portfolio Ashforth
tenants are given the opportunity (and are encouraged) to recycle
the following items: paper, cardboard, batteries, pop cans,
plastic bottles, glass, metal and packaging “peanuts”.
Additionally within our properties, we are recycling building
materials such as fluorescent lights and wood pallets.
Computer
equipment (including monitors) is one item we are not
able to provide regular recycling of for our tenants.
However, we have found where you can go to refurnish
them locally. Free Geek offers computer recycling by
putting them back into the market, rather than putting
them into our landfills. Arrangements can be made through
Free Geek, 1731 S.E. 10th, Portland, Oregon, or by calling
503.232.9350. Free Geek is a non-profit organization,
and you can get further information by visiting their
web site at www.freegeek.org.
Thank
you for joining our continued efforts at recycling as much
as possible. If you have any questions regarding whether
an item is recyclable, please call Property Management
at 503.233.5696. |
